about

Presenting my long-awaited 3rd album.

"Hyperfocus" combines my usual ambient synthwave with some pop, dance, punk and folk influences.

It's a concept album of sorts, about staying positive despite the bad things that happen in life. I've felt pretty alienated by a lot of things in the last few months - unemployment, terrible politicians, the rise of crime, bad people and their influence on others, and alienation with where I live.

I find myself using nostalgia as a coping mechanism more than ever, as it's not tied to my successes or failures, which everything in this modern world seems to be. When I go on family holidays, the places are the same as when I was a kid, which allows me to feel a sense of reassurance. I also quite enjoy meditation, such as it minimises the concerns and just lets me live 'in the now'

I found the idea of writing songs about my various worries to be an effective coping mechanism. It's something I've done to some extent in the past, but on this album, I was careful to distinguish each track's theme that ties into the overall concept - it felt that way it was more of a weight off my mind. As I always do, it includes two instrumental interlude tracks which create dreamlike soundscapes.

I hope you enjoy this album as much as I did making it.
