Presenting my folk album. I've written these songs on guitar over the last few years and they seem to fit naturally together into their own thing. These songs are nice to play at open mic nights when there's an acoustic guitar handy. This record is a bit distinct from my unplugged acoustic album "Powercut", because it uses three different acoustic guitars, that being my usual 12 string, my 6 string, and a 3/4 size 6 string. These give the songs their own individual flavour.

Track info:

Ruminations, Permafrost and Maze Of Thorns have all been kicking around since 2016/2017 or so and were all inspired by Nick Drake. There was a remake of Permafrost on Powercut, but I liked the ambience of the original demo and thought it was worth having it here too. The other two tracks are more recent recordings.

What's The Point is an acoustic arrangement of a song from 2011/2012, which I did in 2018. At the time I wrote this song I genuinely thought it was hit single material.

Secret Life was featured on the B-Side to Just Don't Worry in 2019, and being acoustic, escaped my b-sides compilations. It's one I play regularly so was a natural fit here.

Floating Above The World appeared as a B-Side to The Emptiness Within in 2021 and is a nice quick song that's fun to warm up with.

Viking Blood appeared on the various artists Invasion compilation in 2022. It's always fun to play live.

Red Wolf and Opposites Attract were started around the same time in 2022 but not finished till this year. They are kind of the focal point of this album.

Finally, Cascading was improvised as I was recording it, then overdubbed vocal. I thought it would be interesting to put something like this on an album to show my writing process.

The cover art is me in more peaceful times. I think it evokes the folky countryside spirit of this album.
